Integrating REDCap patient-reported outcomes with the HealtheIntent population health platform: proof of concept
The study, published in JAMIA Open in October 2023, uses REDCap. It demonstrates how patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) collected using REDCap can be integrated with electronic health records (EHR) and other data sources to create comprehensive dashboards and reports.
Conclusion: This approach, leveraging readily available tools, can be easily adopted by other healthcare systems to integrate PROMs with clinical data better, providing valuable insights for both clinical practice and research.s to come.
My take
Methods are sound. The study demonstrates the agility of REDCap and its ability to integrate with current electronic hospital records, enabling the seamless use in everyday practice to collect clinical data in addition to patient experience wellbeing data. As such REDCap creates limitless opportunity for research and quality improvement projects.
